For the last 2 months, Community Nights has provided different artists with the opportunity to access our studio spaces for free. On June 20, we will hold a showcase of some of the participants. Six groups, consisting of art forms such as theatre, dance, and even art therapy, will present their latest creative endeavours. The showcase will be followed by a jazz performance by a local performing jazz trio, Hamilton Street Swing.
This event is free to attend. The concession will be open throughout the evening.
Performing art groups are:
- Foolish Productions: A performing art collective built off the idea of creating abstract performances with facilitated conversations to bring critical thinking back into the consumption of the arts.
- Kevin Jesuino: A Portuguese-Canadian multi-disciplinary performer, performing arts educator, movement coach, arts facilitator, LGBTQ+ activist and community organizer.
- Roots Peruvian Folk Dance: A group of volunteer dancers with various cultural backgrounds who share a passion for Peruvian Folk Dance.
- Secret Balboa Club: A group of Balboa dancers who are interested in practicing together regularly to improve their skills and build a community around this style of dancing.
- Thrive Art Therapy: A creative art therapy group.
- Wonderland Arts: A group of Ukrainian children joining together for dance classes.
